Margaret Bradley Invitational and Alex Wilson Invitational
On February 22, 2025, the Notre Dame Running Club had a record 31 runners compete across 2 indoor track meets, the University of Chicago’s Margaret Bradley Invitational and the University of Notre Dame’s Alex Wilson Invitational. First up was Theresa Kerker, who ran 11.36 in the preliminaries and finished 8th in the finals with a 10.98. Next up was the 3000m. Audrey Filonczuk ran 12:01.26 for 8th place in the women’s race. On the men’s side, Zach Wrobel ran 9:29.68 for 11th place, and Matthew Crow ran 9:36.52 for 12th.
After that was the mile. On the women’s side, Elizabeth Schmidt ran 5:16.22 for 7th place, Ingrid Corpus ran 5:35.88 for 17th, and Aine Fitzpatrick ran 6:01.11 for 27th. The trio of Audrey Filonczuk, Hannah Walsh, and Katie Burke finished 30th, 31st, and 32nd, running 6:05.04, 6:05.09, and 6:09.39 respectively. On the men’s side, Hector Gonzalez Duenes ran 4:43.65 for 22nd, Winston Fairchild ran 4:46.57 for 24th, Sean Wilson ran 4:51.42 for 26th, Tyler Gordon ran 4:51.95 for 27th, Max Shugars ran 4:58.54 for 30th, and Jonathan Karr ran 5:53.97 for 44th.
After that was the 400m. For the women, Morgan Casey ran 1:03.98 for 11th, and Leah Harker ran 1:07.93 for 18th. For the men, Braeden Smith ran 52.32 for 9th place, Jack O'Connell ran 54.43 for 15th, and Timothy Gachuki ran 55.25 for 17th. In the 60m dash, Mara Morales ran 9.17 for 18th place, and Natalie Morris ran 10.54 for 22nd. David Adegoke and Owen Anderson both ran the exact same time of 7.54 to finish in 23rd and 24th place. In the 200m, Morgan Casey ran 28.95 for 17th, and Mara Morales ran 30.75 for 28th.
The team also had some excellent field event performances! Elizabeth Schmidt threw 5.30m in the shot put, Kevin Taylor threw 7.08m, and Jack O’Connell jumped 5.87m in the long jump.
In the 4x400m relay, Theresa Kerker, Elizabeth Schmidt, Morgan Casey, Katie Burke ran a 4:30.85 for 5th place. Jack O’Connell, Timothy Gachuki, Max Shugars, and Braeden Smith ran 3:39.24 for 5th place - Braeden had an incredible “Matthew Boling moment” to come from behind and win the heat. Winston Fairchild, Zach Wrobel, Matthew Crow, and Tyler Gordon ran 4:05.52 for 16th.
One more exciting thing to highlight about this weekend is the 10 club records that were set! They are listed below:

But that’s not all! We also had 6 runners compete at Notre Dame’s Alex Wilson Invitational. Elena Rossen ran a 2:18.81 800m for 11th place. Alan Yap ran a 7.45 60m for 10th. Ryan Soenen ran a 2:00.78 800m for 15th. In the 3000m, Pete Heesters finished 5th with an 8:19.59, Ryan Fryer was 17th with an 8:49.02, and Owen Donaher was 19th with a 9:07.88.
