The Notre Dame Running Club was excited to compete at the Polar Bear Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University on March 22nd and 23rd. The team had a spectacular performance at the first outdoor meet of the season and set numerous club records!
On Friday the afternoon started with Gracie Wetli and Karson Girvin running the 5000m with impressive times of 18:44.07 and 19:18.79! Gracie now holds the 2nd fastest 5K time in club history.
For the men, Ryan Fryer and Owen Donaher had the 2nd and 3rd fastest times in club history with times of 15:36.39 and 15:37.16. Zach Wrobel, Andrew Jitendran, and Jonathan Karr also had great races with times of 16:36.28, 18:42.95, and 19:38.44.
Next up was the Steeplechase. For the first time ever women ran the 3000m Steeple for the club. Ingrid Corpus and Lucy Noris had impressive times of 12:50.42 and 14:15.32, the two fastest times in club history. Ingrid not only holds the club record but also holds the fastest national time to date (all National results can be seen here).
On the men’s side, Winston Fairchild ran the 3rd fastest time in club history with a time of 11:23.35.
The running club was back in action on Saturday. The day started with Audrey Chriso running a 5:07.00 in the 1500m, the 2nd fastest time in club history.
After that was the men’s 1500m where Julian Stedman ran a 4:34.79 and Jonathan Karr ran a 5:26.01.
Then Josh Allen had an impressive performance of 1.82 m in the high jump.
After that was the first time that the women ran the 100m dash. Mara Morales and Natalie Morris had spectacular performances and set the club record with times of 14.77 and 17.22 respectively.
Then Danny O’Gara and Marco Tan ran the men’s 100m dash with times of 12.18 and 12.35 respectively.
Braeden Smith, Marco Tan, Matthew Fishburne, and Danny O'Gara ran the first ever 4x100m and set the club record with a time of 48.42,
Marie Schafer and Theresa Kerker were the first two runners to ever run the 100m hurdles. They had impressive performances and set the club record with times of 17.81 and 18.47 respectively.
Marie and Theresa were quickly back in action and ran the first-ever 400m hurdles for the running club. They ran 1:17.25 and 1:19.39, once again, achieving the two fastest times in club history. That’s two records for each of them in one day!
Next was the men’s 400m dash where Braeden Smith, Kevin Taylor, and Matthew Fishburne all ran impressive times of 53.81, 1:03.52, and 1:03.63 respectively. Braeden now has the fastest 400m time in club history.
Danny O'Gara, Matthew Fishburne, and Kevin Taylor ran the 200m dash with times of 24.54, 27.18, and 27.68 and all had great races!
The day finished with Mara Morales running the 200m dash with an impressive time of 30.70.

Looking Forward
